Texture Reflection

David Hockney was an influential British artist in the 20th C. He developed/created photo collages in his photographs called "joiners". It involves two or more images of a single scene to create a larger one by psychically overlapping them or digitally merging them to create a collage. Usually taken at different times/perspectives to give the image the style of "Cubism".

Image 1- I increased the contrast, brightness and sharpness to get the color of the grass and rocks to make it pop. I wanted to increase the sharpness to see the texture of the objects in the photo more.

Image 2- I created a color pop for this photo by increasing the colors of yellow and green to really see the grass and the texture of it. I love how it makes the color stand out.

Image 3- I took a picture of the cement wall from outside and changed the color to black and white.
I increased the darkness so it has kind of a light/dark effect and increased the sharpness to enhance the texture and lines of the wall.

Image 4- I merged the picture of the daisy and the brick wall together. I brought the brick wall photo forward more so I could it looked like it was the background for the daisy's.

Image 5- I merged the picture of the rocks and the grass together. I made the photo so the grass is coming through the rocks. I like how it hows the grass on top of the rocks.

Image 6- I used the picture that I took of my shoes and combined it with the rocks. I created it so only the rocks were on my shoes and the background stayed the same.

Image 7- I used the picture of the stones for my "joiner"/collage picture. I cut out different areas of the pictures and laid it out differently and made each clip different. By making it black and white, different color, increasing the contrast/saturation, sharpness etc.

My favorite picture from the texture set was the collage picture. I love how it turned out, it was a lot of fun to create. I think it's so cool to clip the picture and rearrange it in a different way and make each individual clip stand out. I liked how the final product looked pieced together.
